        Tyler's Story

        Picture

"BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE" I am sure most of you have heard this cliche.  Imagine that you are driving your car and living your life and you observe a couple with a small child in distress.  It is only a flat tire, but the couple looks helpless.  The college professor and his wife gladly accept Tyler's offer of assistance.  Safety precautions are taken and Tyler begins the task of removing the spare tire from the trunk.  In the blink of an eye Tyler Matthew Ryan's life  and the lives of many others will be changed forever.   A traffic citation for "Inattentive Driving" is issued to the driver of the car that slammed into Tyler, pinning him between her car and the car of the couple he is assisting. His lower body is crushed, both legs mangled and broken in multiple locations, fractured vertabrae in his lower back, and a myriad of lacerations and contusions to his body.  Tyler has undergone multiple surgeries as a result of this horrific accident.  His left leg was so badly damaged it resulted in an above the knee amputation, surgery to repair his right leg with rods in all major bones and back surgery.

Tyler is suffering physically, emotionally, and finacially.  Like so many other Oklahoman's, Tyler had no medical insurance so he is at the mercy of the inattentive drivers woefully inadequate insurance policy.

Remember the cliche, "Bad Things Happen to Good People"?  The events described above are bad, but Tyler is good people.  His infectious smile and enthusiastic spirit are truly uplifting to all of his family and friends.  Tyler will win this battle, but it will be an extremely difficult task.  The tattoo inscribed on his forearm "Keep Moving Forward" will become his credo.  Tyler WILL NOT be defeated and WILL become a better person as a result of this tragic event.

We ask that you sustain your care and concern for Tyler because this will be a long and grueling journey.  Please pray for Tyler's speedy recovery.  If you are so inclined, send donations to defray Tyler's extensive medical expenses.

Thanks for all of your support so far and remember "GOD NEVER GIVES US MORE THAN WE CAN HANDLE"
